Students are encouraged to read thoroughly and be familiar with plot, character development, conflict, and theme. Take note of significant passages in preparation for a quote quiz. Be prepared to take the quiz on the first day of school. The first writing assignment for each grade level will be based on the summer reading.

Summer Work Permits
OBTAINING
Work permit applications may be picked up and processed in your school’s career center through Wednesday, June 30. Work permit applications can also be downloaded at:
http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/dlseformB1-1.pdf
After Wednesday, June 30, Works permits will be issued in the high school front office from the hours of 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. If the office is closed your may go to the address below for work permits.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
(Closed Monday, July 5th)
REMINDERS:
- Applications must be signed by the employer.
- A parent or guardian must also sign the application.
- A social security number is required to process a work permit.
- Students need to bring the completed application along with their ID (Driver’s License, School ID, Passport, or copy of Birth Certificate).
- The completed “official” work permit is signed by the student and taken to his/her employer.
- Each new job requires a new work permit.
- There is no minimum GPA required for summer work permits. All permits expire in September, five days after school begins.
